TV Development

My development work primarily consists of videos I’m hired to produce/direct and those I put together on my own.

I pride myself on seeing new worlds through the lens of those characters who inhabit them.

Essential Quail hired me to produce/direct this sizzle reel for HGTV about a brother/sister team based in Pensacola, Florida. Over two days, my small crew followed the couple as they toured a variety of homes they had flipped, and a few they had their eyes on, all while capturing their unique relationship. Then, I brought all that footage back to our production offices and supervised the edit.

Because of this sizzle, HGTV ordered an airable pilot.

I knew Paige, Orly, and Ameka from my days producing Hallmark’s daily talk show, Home & Family. We pitched Remedy Studios (formerly Spectrum Productions) and partnered with them to produce this sizzle. As seasoned professionals, they needed very little coaching. This sizzle was about recognizing great talent who just needed a platform to shine. I think the sizzle speaks for itself.

David Money wanted to produce a sizzle reel to show off his talents as a host and with a hammer. So he and his wife hired me to produce and direct him in an independent sizzle reel featuring both. Over two days we filmed the construction of an entire backyard clubhouse. We treated it like a mini-episode complete with an actual reveal (with TEARS!). Pairing him with Disney star (and now Kobra Kai star) Jacob Bertrand didn’t hurt either.

I still believe this needs to be a show on TV right now.

My friend Steph says to me, “I just met a good ol’ boy from Arkansas who owns the most popular wedding venue in Las Vegas. We should do a show about him.” Seemed like a good idea to me, so we headed out to Vegas and spent the day with Tony Hulsey and his team.

I met Brian Patton (aka The Sexy Vegan) at a Thanksgiving-themed cooking demo that my wife and I attended. I was immediately impressed with his culinary skills and charisma. He invited me into his prep kitchen where I captured him preparing a meal and filmed a cooking demo. He should absolutely have his own show.

I still use his mashed potatoes recipe he featured when I got him booked on Home & Family. Click here to view.

Okay, so this isn’t a TV show I developed, but if you’ve made it this far down the page, this one is just fun.

I wrote, directed, edited, AND performed in this parody of a home makeover show. While it was made as a piece of entertainment for a benefit event held at my children’s school, I think it shows off the complete range of my skill set.

Plus, I was able to pull from my years of experience in the field producing traditional makeover shows to get a few laughs.

Bourbon Boys is my passion project. The idea stemmed from my own experiences connecting with fellow dads while playing music together in my garage. I wrote and directed a full pilot and then edited this trailer featuring my favorite moments.
